Use the pain reliving polysporin antibiotic ointment. And get some of the gauze stuff and wrap his paw in it and use a tape to hold the gauze together (without taping the dog of course). Polysporin is safe with dogs and will prevent infection. I did this when my lab was attacked by another dog, they bit his ear and tore it a little, i did this and he healed very quickly.
