Can you register a pup without the parents being akc registered? ?

I have a pit bull pup. His bloodline is redboy and jeep (that is what the owner told me). The owner never had the litter registered. So, my question is can i get him registered? The mother and father are both the same bloodline. Can someone please get back with, thank you.
